Type 8 - Roller steady rest
Roller steady rests do not have an upper quill. They are build for workpieces up into the double-digit tons range and diameters up to three meters. They are used to avoid the sagging of long workpieces such as for marine shafts for example. Often they will be used in combination with ordinary steady rests at the machining position.
This steady rest, too, is built with our patented electronic measuring device. The steady rest knows the centre of your machine and the quills can be preset to the diameter of the workpiece. The idea for this arrangement, which is protected by patent, was invented by Harry Richter, a master toolmaker, and was then perfected for actual use by Richter Vorrichtungsbau.
